Do the children sleep outdoors?
Yes – since 2017, the 2–6 year old children who require a sleep during the day have been given the opportunity to sleep outdoors, should they choose to do so.
This policy does not apply to babies, who always sleep indoors.
Numerous ongoing studies conducted by a wide range of independent organisations demonstrate the significant benefits of children spending extended periods of time outdoors in nature.
These benefits include:
- Improved brain development
- Stronger bone and muscular development
- Enhanced social and cognitive development
- Better emotional wellbeing
- Reduced incidence of illness
Healthier children also mean fewer interruptions to work and a reduced need for leave.

Will my children learn about sustainability?
Absolutely, since 2014 we have been teaching our children about recycling, worm farms, composting, gardening, Noongar bush tucker and animal husbandry through hands-on activities that spark curiosity and build enduring habits.
These experiences not only reduce our environmental footprint but also empower our children to become thoughtful caretakers of the planet.
Our children collect fresh eggs from our heritage chickens, tend to herbs and vegetables in our gardens and see their efforts come full circle as these ingredients are used in our freshly made delicious, seasonal meals.

These activities may include whittling, using various tools (hammers, saw and drills), animal care, sound and music exploration, fire pit experiences including the use of flint sticks and other hands-on learning opportunities.
Each experience is designed to build practical skills, confidence and a connection to the environment. The enrichment program adds depth and diversity to the curriculum, sparking new interests and expanding children’s horizons.
